A musicians first time recording in a real studio

A musicians first time recording in a real studio. Well here I am again back by popular demand hahaha today I am going to talk about being a studio virgin , I mean a real studio with sound rooms and vocal booths I remember my first time as if it were yesterday Studio 96 on Don lands avenue in Toronto it was a converted movie theatre Wow. Ok so I had a bushel basket full of freshly written songs and I really wanted to record them I new this guy who new this guy and finally I ended up at studio 96 where I met Norm he was my sound engineer and I have to say he was amazing the way that he brought my songs to life a track at a time blew my mind. Our first order of business was to ensure that I had hard copies of the lyrics the next thing we talked about was song order on the cd  a very important step next came talking about the sound that I was looking for , we talked about tempo , timing pronouncing the words clearly ,musical bridges as apposed to verbal bridges all the technical stuff around recording my music . Ok lets be honest for me the pure artist song writer I found this a little over whelming and when we discussed budget for this recording we were set to go . Ok people let me tell you when I went into the sound room sat down with my guitar and played the first melody I was as nervous as Hell and it took several attempts to lay down the track  (be prepared it costs less) an expensive lesson . Alright so after I finally worked out the bugs things started to go smooth next came the vocal tracks I found it difficult to sing my lyrics without playing along on the guitar it was very different for me but finally we had one song recorded guitar and vocal and it was time to listen on real powered speakers and I have to say WOOOW !!! did I ever sound good . Alright that’s it for part one part two will talk about adding drums ,keys and bass thank you for supporting my blog it is why I write.

My Guitar is like an old friend that knows who I am

My Guitar is like an old friend that knows who I am. I remember the day I walked into Wilson and Lees music store and there she was calling out my name she picked me so I gently took her down from the rack it was a Fender cut a way acoustic electric guitar and as soon as I played it I was in love. I walked up to the sales guy and said how much he said 1,299. dollars so I sais thanks and put her gently back on the rack and the wheels started turning it I traded in my fender 12 string and my vantage 6 string just maybe. So I rushed home packed up the two guitars and off I went back to the guitar shop I walked in and said I will trade you these two guitars for that one on the rack and he said throw in 800...
